Brilliant software. The complete suite surely will test the most knowledgeable in amateur radio. It does require one's full attention and a basic understanding of ham radio theory across all bands and various methods of communication currently in use, however, any beginner can start off slowly working in the HF band using only one protocol. A personal computer or laptop hooked up to a ham rig, pre-configured and synced with the fldigi's many available programmable functions allows visual on-screen waterfall monitoring to locate present hotspot activity simultaneously within or across an entire band, and make contact using the personal computer's keyboard and mouse. For those who are shy, no voice communications are ever necessary. Also, no gigantic antenna tower is needed either. Fldigi works from inside an apartment with an internal antenna and can connect with operators thousands of miles away on ten watts of power, 25 watts typical, 100 watts max. It's very sensitive and anything more than 100W transceiver power is highly discouraged. Multiple tutorials and help are available on-line at YouTube and also included with the packages. It can be a bit challenging at first but easy enough to start making contacts all over the world almost immediately, and multiple protocols almost always work even when vox is quiet . Great software. I just wish it would get ported to run on iOS as well as support FT8, JT65, JT9. It would be amazing to be able to run this from an iPhone for SOTA & field day. Atlantic theme parks.
